This casual session is a chance for you to come along and try art journaling as a process of self-discovery.
Guided by Bess, an arts therapist, each week we'll dive into a new prompt designed to work through stress, uncover your unique strengths and learn the practice of process over product.

Still Life Drawing workshop

Come along learn the art of still life drawing. Using a range of drawing media - from pencils, charcoal, graphite and pastel - participants will draw from an inspired range of still life objects. Everyone will complete a finished artwork to take home. Includes a drink of choice and all materials.

Collage Club with Eleesa Howard

Collage club is a fun and social workshop! What better way to switch off than grabbing some paper, ripping, cutting, pasting and having a laugh. It's about taking a deep breath, having a chat and making connections.
Join us to create your own unique piece of artwork using magazines, second-hand books, paper, scissors and glue.
This is a relaxed format with demonstrations and gentle guidance as needed, allowing you to freely embrace your creative freedom.

Studio Social

Studio Social is a new, weekly studio arts class for adults or VCE students looking to work on a project or body of work in a warm, social, supported studio environment under the guidance of a practicing visual artist.
Each session we will spend 3 hours in the Spare Parts studio working on self-guided studio work, with the option to use any of the studio’s equipment.
The Spare Parts studio offers use of the following:

Join Eleesa for a step by step guide to using Instagram, especially designed for beginners.
Would you like to know how to edit your photos, use filters or create stories? Not sure what this is all about? Perfect. This workshop is for you!
Over a cup of tea in a relaxed and welcoming environment we'll chat, explain, take photos and learn how to get the best out of your Instagram page to benefit your creative pursuits.

Beginners lino printing workshop
For: adult, age 12+

Join Karen in this fun 3-hour workshop as she guides you through the ins and outs of lino printing.
Using Margaret Preston's iconic botanical prints as a jumping off point, you will design, carve and print your own Australian native-inspired artwork on the Spare Parts etching press.
Each participant will take home at least 6 artist quality prints, with the option to print your design on greeting cards.
Students are encouraged to bring in foraged botanical materials and/or reference artwork.

Screenprinting 101
For: teen / adult
When: Sunday 7th August
11am to 4pm
Cost: $240pp, includes all materials, lunch, tea/coffee and option for glass of wine/ETCH.

Skill level: no experience necessary.
In this 5-hour beginners course you will learn everything you need to know to screen print at home. We will cover basic materials, screen preparation and heat setting. We will design and print a single stencil design on a tote bag before learning how to do a repeat pattern on a tea-towel. Every participant will take home written instructions, several practice prints, as well as their finished textile artworks.
